Out With the Old...

Here we are at the closing of another year. Many people, I suspect, are ready to put 2017 behind them. Even if you don't believe in making New Year's resolutions, most everyone approaches the new year, with hope that it will be better then the last. The week between Christmas and New Year's Day has always been a good time to reflect on the year in passing and consider the possibilities of the year to come. It's also a great time to go paddling in Southeastern, NC. We almost always have a weather window in which to enjoy a day or two on the water. And many times you and your crew may be the only ones out there. With the holiday crush fading into the rearview, being out on the water provides a moment of contemplation, and maybe even clarity. What are we hoping for from 2018? The answer to that question will vary from person to person. The important part is slowing down and giving yourself a chance to contemplate it in the first place. Being on or near the water seems to provide the context in which to consider that question. Perhaps it will set the stage for a momentous new year to come.
