The Calm Before the Storm

Though it's been almost a year now, it doesn't seem that long ago that we were preparing for the arrival of Hurricane Matthew. Now we await the arrival of Hurricane Irma. Just like Matthew, Irma is a large and potent storm whose landfall location is yet to be accurately determined. It was estimated that Wilmington was on track for a serious smack down from Matthew. As it turned out, we were spared a direct hit while our neighbors to the west of us sustained serious damage due to flooding. A month after the storm, the Cape Fear River was still bursting its banks. For now, all we can do is wait, watch and pray. We may see a violent end to summer as we transition to Fall. However the weekend forecast is looking pretty good, with lot's of sun, and highs in the low 80's. We may have to hunker down next week..or we may not. Either way I plan on enjoying the calm before the storm.
